Just another “responsible gun owner™!”
A Florida man faces manslaughter charges for fatally shooting a woman in the head after she jokingly slapped him. Elliott William Orsborn, 26, shot 26-year-old Jamie Lee Martin after a night of drinking at the victim’s home, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
Orsborn, a convicted felon, said something to Martin that prompted her to “jokingly slap” him across the face. He then pulled out a .22 revolver, pointed it at the mother of two, and fired a single shot into her forehead.
According to Martin’s boyfriend, Orsborn immediately claimed it was an accident, stayed at the scene for a minute or two, then fled. He was later arrested at his Orange Park home and charged with manslaughter. According to witnesses, Orsborn flashed his gun and played with it throughout the night.
Orsborn has a history of violent actions. In 2011, he was convicted of assault with a deadly weapon, and in 2010 he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. In the 2011 incident, Orsborn threatened someone with a knife after he was told to stop throwing trash into a hotel parking lot.
It is unknown what his defense will be, if any. However, as this is Florida…all he really needs to do is say he felt threatened when she slapped him.
