David VanDerBeek (R) of Nevada yesterday stated
When your leaders betray you, all you have is violence
VanDerBeek has a long history of calling for actions of violence and bloodshed and then refusing to take responsibility for the actions of the followers he incites to violence. These are some actual quotes of VanDerBeek
If Obama sends police to take your guns, execute them
I have to be firm in representing those people out there who will shoot police and soldiers if they try to take their guns
There are only two ways people becoming free in history and its money or blood
I will lead armed resistance. And I will fire upon other Americans who choose to abuse other Americans in these ways (gun control). I give you my oath that I will fire upon Americans that obey orders to disarm American people.
He made a video in response to being accused of “not being ‘Murican enough” by members of the radical extremist group The Oath Keepers, which pledges themselves to upholding the Constitution but more often than not boils down to threats of violence involving guns. His reasoning for making the video was because the Oath Keepers didn’t go far enough.
All of this comes after two of his biggest fans, Jerad and Amanda Miller, went on a shooting spree in Nevada. They had moved from Indiana to Nevada in order to support VanDerBeek for office. They had met with VanDerBeek on multiple occasions, often talking about drug laws. VanDerBeek, a clinical counselor, says every time he met with them they were agitated but showed no signs of any violent tendencies. Maybe a public figure they greatly admire and look up to calling for people to go and kill could have led them to that insane conclusion. But that’s just conjecture so who knows…
After their murderous rampage, where VanDerBeek disavowed calls to any violent action, this “Constitution Party” Candidate made a video where he once again called for violent acts against other American citizens.
Is it cognitive dissonance or is he really just this stupid?
