For some reason, Colin Powell still identifies with the Republican party, even though he takes serious issue with its institutional and pathological bigotry, racism and extremism. Powell gave a few examples of TEApublican attacks aimed at President Obama which are thinly disguised racist smears.
On Sarah Palin after the Libyan Attack, Powell said, “When I see a former governor say that the president is ‘shuckin’ and jivin’.’ That’s a racial-era slave term.”
“There’s also a dark vein of intolerance in some parts of the party,” General Powell said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “What do I mean by that? What I mean by that is they still sort of look down on minorities.”
