Alexander Gonzalez Garcia of Idaho is a church deacon at the Nampa Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was charged and found guilty of sexually molesting a 12 year old girl in a broom closet at the church.
Initially sentenced to 20 years, forced to register as a sex offender, and never allowed to have contact with the girl ever again it appears his sentence has become much more lenient. Pleading to investigators Garcia said that “Satan was in the closet” with him and the girl.
Understandably, the judge, Bradley S. Ford, has reduced the sentence to just at one year so long as he responds well to “treatment.”
It’s amazing to see at nearly 60 years of age the old “the devil made me do it” excuse working to exonerate oneself from harsh sentence especially when the individual is a monster and sexual predator of children.
The sentences for pedophiles and child molesters continues to remain light, despite the obvious danged these particular criminals pose for society.
Said the prosecutor
Mr. Garcia used his position of trust in the church to take advantage of the victim, and he deserves to be behind bars where he can no longer be a danger to the community. This case should serve as a reminder to every parent that you need to be very careful of who your kids are hanging around with.
This is a sad story of a judge being far too lenient with a man who isn’t even alleged to stalking children for his sexual predilections – the man in question, Garcia, doesn’t even deny it. He just merely shifts the blame to his imaginary friend Satan so that this time next year he can be on his merry way to find his next hapless victim.
Excellent job, justice system! Bravo!
