TEApublican heads exploded Monday as New Jersey Governor Chris Christie in appearance on MSNBC said that President Barack Obama “has kept every promise he’s made” about helping New Jersey recover from Superstorm Sandy.
Today is the 6th month anniversary of the storm which ravaged the Eastern Seaboard on October 29th 2012, killing 159 people and causing and estimated 50 billion in damages. Christie was called a traitor for embracing President Obama, and accepting Federal assistance after the storm, some TEApublicans going as far as saying that Christie’s efforts to put partisan politics aside to help his state and his people cost Mitt Romney the election.
This morning on the MSNBC show Morning Joe, host Joe Scarborough asked Governor Christie, “A lot of conservatives say they’re done with you, you’re finished in national politics because of what you did. Six months later, do you have any regrets
Christie replied, “No. I say the same thing to all my critics no matter where they are on the spectrum, and that is that I’ve got a job to do. And the fact is that there was nothing else that ever crossed my mind in the days after.”
Indeed, some critics have been Charles Krauthammer, who starred in the 80’s Jim Henson movie The Dark Crystal called Hurricane Sandy relief a “rape of the treasury.”
Progressive Superstar Rep. Alan Grayson called opposition to Sandy Relief a result of the “Bath Salts Caucus; the People that Would Rather Eat Your Face than Cut Taxes on the Rich.”
When asked how the White House had performed since the disaster Christie said, “The President has kept every promise that he made, and that fact is, that’s what I was saying at the time. What I was saying at the time, I was asked about how was the president doing? And I said, he’s doing a good job, he’s kept his word.”
It’s no wonder TEApublicans hate Christie, who is considered to be a Republican contender for the White House in 2016.
