Of all the people I’ve been thinking about in the wake of the brutal murder of another American journalist today, Phil Robertson landed a spot nowhere on that list. But someone must care what he thinks, since he sat down across from Hannity to discuss radical Islam.
I mean, who better to talk radical Islam than a radical Christian?
When questioned on the matter, Phil responded that it was a situation of “either convert them or kill them.”
Really, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the answer is the same exact answer you’d get asking an ISIS cleric about American Christians.
When the problem is religion, the solution is not more religion. That’s like trying to solve heart problems with deep-fried foods. It might feel good, but you have to know, deep down, it’s going to get you killed.
And if only it were that easy; religious extremism is a Lernaean Hydra. You don’t solve the problem by killing them; that just feeds a cycle of violence that rolls over into the next generation. It’s bad enough that we’ve got people trying to saber rattle in Syria, but now we’ve got a guy whose expertise is ducks and fleecing taxpayers with a fake hilly billy show pontificating on foreign policy matters?
