The basic response to the standard Conservative Everybody charge that the Lamestream Media is controlled by a bunch of liberals (and should thus never be viewed) is pretty straightforward: “Well, there might be a hint o liberalisms, a sway, a light sprinkle. But here are 17 charts showing why we’re really sorry about it.” But Cenk Uygur has a slightly different perspective.
Maybe it’s because he worked for MSNBC. Or, more accurately, because he was fired by the definitively “libtard controlled” media network for being…well, too liberal. But either way, Cenk makes a pretty strong case that observably speaking, the Lamestream Media is a pretty good distance from “liberal.” And if it is remotely liberal, then it’s doing about as good a job at it as Obama is at being a socialist.
In fact, it almost seems as though the LSM can be quite Foxy…when it comes to drumming up gossip for ratings. The focus of the first half of Cenk’s argument was the fact that the Lamestream is just as quick to blame Obama as Fox, and just as slow to apologize when it’s wrong, or give him credit where it’s due.
“What about the media? Aren’t you ever going to give praise to Obama for lowering gas prices? Oh, of course not…you only give criticism instead of returning to the issue and admitting ‘we were wrong, it turns out president Obama did not screw up energy policy. He did a perfectly good job with that.'”
And it was the same story for the reduction in the deficit, unemployment, containing ebola, the broad-spanning success of Obamacare and the act that there are now 20 percent more insurers and business for insurance companies since Obamacare then there was before it. And that the average insurance rate has gone down. When was the last time that happened? Funny how nobody mentions that in media.
But not as funny as the idea that the “Big Government Marxist” has somehow increased the size of government, which Cenk calls “COMICAL.” And these charts seem to agree.
Cenk then goes into the number of fake scandals Obama’s been hit with, and never retracted in apology for. One of them being Solyndra, which has become a Benghazi-esque talking point for those who scream about supposed “big government waste,” and how these lefty-greeny programs are nothing but huge taxpayer dollar-sucks.
Oddly enough, though, they fail to mention that the $500 million loss of Solyndra (plus another $280 million in defaults) was not only barely 2 percent of the total amount of money loaned under the D.O.E.’s Renewable Energy Loan Program, but that the $810 million in interest on the loans meant the program made the federal government more than $30 million.
That’s all the more incredible when you realize that Congress expected the program to be a money-LOSER. They even set aside $10 billion to cover the expected losses. But, to (almost) everyone’s astonishment, it turns out Green Energy is actually a pretty profitable business after all.
“If you look at the reality of the program, it’s a shining example of how government can work, and they can do things right.”
But oddly enough, it’s all radio silence on that from the supposedly “socialist propaganda mill” that is the Lamestream Media. Man…you getting the impression that these lib propagandists really suck at their jobs?
It could just be…
Maybe Fox and everyone on it is completely full of crap, and they created a boogeyman where none exists to build up viewer loyalty by causing them to distrust everyone else. Well, hell, it’s not easy to make a name in news when you’ve got the least factually accurate network on television. And what the best way to sell lies? By accusing everyone else of lying about lying.
All things considered, it seems someone at least is doing a fine job of running a Grade A political propaganda mill.
But it isn’t the Lamestream media.
