It is never a surprise when someone from CBN, Pat Robertson’s network of lies, distortion and just plain goofy views of the world says something ridiculous, we have all come to expect that. The proclamation by Erick Stakelbeck, self anointed terrorism expert for the network may have hit an all time high in the sublimely silly in a recent appearance on It’s Supernatural! with Sid Roth on iTBN.
Roth, a man with somewhat over the top ideas of his own, openly laughed when Stakelbeck proclaimed that U.S. Liberals and gays were somehow aligned with Islamic radicals saying, the “political left is not going to be aligned with someone who wants to kill homosexuals.” Stakelbeck was not about to back down on his claim however saying that liberals, gays and radical Islamists share a common “hatred” of “traditional America” going on to say that they “hate the name of Yeshua (Jesus) so much that they will work together, at least in the short term, to chip away at traditional America and traditional western civilization, adding, “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
Stakelbeck’s qualifications as an “expert” on terrorism are beyond questionable, they are apparently non existent. A search for any information on his educational credentials leads one nowhere. Even in his own online biography there is no mention at all of education all we really know is that he was at one time a sportscaster who suddenly morphed one day into an “expert” on terrorism. He is, of course revered as such by the extreme religious right as well as the right wing “news” sources such as Faux News, where he has appeared on The O’Reilly Factor, The Sean Hannity Show, Your World with Neil Cavuto, Fox Weekend Live, Fox and Friends, America’s Newsroom with Bill Hemmer and Martha McCallum, America Live with Megyn Kelly and Lou Dobbs Tonight. He also has a regular weekly spot on Savage Nation with Michael Savage. None of these people seem to question his qualifications.
We are all entitled to our opinions no matter how outrageous, but should anyone be entitled to label themselves as “experts” without the educational credentials to back the claim up? And how silly is it to think that those who would be among the first targets of Sharia Law would ever take part in helping to establish it in this country?
