Early Friday morning, a Nashville cab driver was pistol whipped and shot in his driveway while returning from work.
As he exited his cab, the victim was approached by two men, one of whom pistol-whipped the driver, and the other shooting him in the leg.
The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. According to police, the suspects fled in a dark-colored Nissan vehicle. At this time, it’s unclear if it was a robbery or if anything was taken from the victim.
Neighbors describe the sound of gunfire as a “firecracker” and said that the victim was calling out names, but they couldn’t hear what names he was shouting. The cabbie managed to make his way to a neighbor’s house, where he grabbed a brush to hit the door. According to the neighbor, they had no idea what was going on, or the severity of the situation, and feared to open the door, although they were able to get the victim help.
