Residents of El Paso County Colorado are saying that paid signature gatherers trying to recall Democratic Senate President John Morse are lying in order to gather signatures to force a recall election. Gun nuts are furious that Colorado took steps to reduce gun violence in that state. A resident called Carol Hoffman contacted the Denver Post after being visited by one of these liars.
According to the Denver Post:
Hoffman said, “I asked why they were recalling Sen. Morse and he told me that there is currently a law being considered that would make the ‘Make My Day’ law in Colorado invalid. He said that this current bill will hold gun owners responsible if they use a gun against an intruder in their home. I told him that the bill he was talking about (The Assault Weapons Responsibility Act) did not do this, and it had been withdrawn anyway. He claimed there was ‘another bill’ still in play that did do this, although he couldn’t name it.”
Colorado gun politics have been heated to say the least. In addition to the lies, a Colorado TEApublican was arrested after threatening to kill a Colorado lawmaker in February.
In this video, you see one of these liars attempting to gather signature claim that the gun safety law makes Colorado’s “Make My Day” law invalid.
