If there is one thing that the folks at Fox News like as much as bashing the president, it is bashing the president while also scaring their audience to death with dire predictions based on, well, nothing.
On The Kelly Files Friday night Megyn Kelly’s guest “expert” was J. Christian Adams who wanted the viewers to know that they should be very afraid because of the danger the President has placed them in by refusing to bar all flights from West Africa and all persons who have been to any of the countries where Ebola is a serious problem.
Mr. Adams has impeccable credentials to comment on communicable diseases. He is an attorney who worked for the DOJ during the George W. Bush administration making him the ideal candidate to offer “expert” commentary.
Kelly’s first question was one that Adams credentials qualified him to answer, she asked if the President has the legal authority to ban flights and people coming from those countries.
“He does Megyn,” Adams said, “I reported today that federal law gives the President broad discretionary authority to stop entry into the United States from people from these countries.”
Had Adams confined his comments to matters of law such as this he would have been a qualified expert to ask about it. Unfortunately he did not stop there: he went on to comment on the medical facts on which he is woefully uninformed.
Adams went on to make the false claim thatt the Dallas man who became the first Ebola patient to come down with the disease in the U.S. was “vomiting all over the plane.” Kelly had to correct him on this fact, pointing out that he was asymptomatic until after he was already back in Dallas.
Being an “expert” however Adams said that “you don’t have to be symptomatic to spread this disease.” Kelly pointed out said that the doctors say you do, but the “expert” smugly replied, “Well, we’ll see.”
Perhaps the most rankling aspect of Adams’ appearance was his smug smirk the entire time as he delivered disinformation to an audience eager to believe his every word.
