SNL’s 39th season featured a cold open about Obamacare in which various actors mangle the intent of the program.
Ersatz President Obama (Jay Pharoah) admits the administration hasn’t communicated the benefits of Obamacare very effectively. Another member of the cast brags that she can get sick all the time or a father complains his slacker son now doesn’t need to get a job but still has coverage.
A jaded ER doctor is sick of certain objects placed in a certain orifice. (For more specifics, watch the skit.)
But then the President introduces someone from New Mexico. Aaron Paul talks about his “friend” who had cancer. He was a teacher with a family. But because of the healthcare scenario his friend was forced to cook meth.
And murder people.
Just an aside, Good-bye “Breaking Bad.”
There is a meme on the Internet of how this groundbreaking and brilliant show would have worked in Canada.
Walter White: ‘I am a high school chemistry teacher and I have stage 3 cancer.’
Public Official: ‘We have national health coverage.’
