Freedom Industries, the company responsible for spilling thousands of gallons of a nonlethal, yet hazardous chemical into the water supply, has largely been silent following their poisoning of more than a quarter million people’s water supply. Gary Southern, the president, did not have time to discuss matters. CEO Dennis P. Farrel has not said a word, but his girlfriend claimed “no one and no thing” has been harmed by the spill.
A West Virginia man is showing just one of the many ways people have been harmed. In addition to a rash of hospital visits following the perhaps-too-hasty lifting of the water ban in many areas, it seems that the water could also be used to cook marshmallows very recently.
A West Virginia man has recorded a video of himself getting a cool, fresh glass of water from the tap. He then proceeds to hold a lighter to it and, just like magic, we are privileged to see the results of an unholy marriage between government and corporations. Perhaps legislators will think twice about allowing chemical storage facilities to be exempt from many of the regulations designed to keep people safe.
Freedom Industries has previously been cited for numerous violations regarding storage and containment at another site.
