A well-known former Navy SEAL was shot and killed Saturday evening in Texas, reportedly at point blank range, while at a shooting range in Glen Rose, about 50 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
Chris Kyle, 39, is the victim. He was known for his exploits as a sniper in four tours of duty in Iraq, and he wrote about those exploits in a book titled “American Sniper”. He killed over 150 insurgents while in Iraq, and detailed those experiences in the book. He leaves behind a wife and two children.
Another man, 35-year-old Chad Littlefield, a neighbor of Kyle, was also killed.
The shooter was reported to be Eddie Routh, 25, a soldier who was being helped by Kyle for his post-traumatic stress disorder. He was captured and arrested in Lancaster, south of Dallas.
There was no immediate explanation for why a P.T.S.D. sufferer was handling a gun.
Not even half an hour after the news broke, conspiracy nuts were out in full force, blaming the shooting on the government. Or at the very least, they were calling the story “suspicious”. Click on the image for some of their “greatest hits”…
