UPDATE: Anonymous has followed through, and has posted a photo of Willman–however, they may be wrong!
When Anonymous promised action on Ferguson, they weren’t kidding! The hacktivists have released what they say is the name of the officer who shot unarmed African-American teenager Michael Brown, which has sparked protests and even rioting in the city of Ferguson, Missouri. Police initially promised to release the name of Brown’s murderer, but reneged.
In four days, Anonymous has done more for transparency than police have, releasing the police dispatch audio from the time Brown was killed and information about officers involved. While we do not condone “dropping dox,” we recognize that this is likely the only way that the community will be able to place a name to what, if it did not involve a police officer, would be called a hate crime.
According to the hacktivists, the name of the officer who murdered Brown is Bryan P. Willman.
The group promises more information as time rolls on. Next on the agenda seems to be a release of video of Brown’s body into the back of a police SUV. They say the video confirms that no EMS was on scene.
