Many families spend Easter morning with their families or their spiritual communities, but this Easter sees many families mourning the loss of their loved ones in a disgusting terrorist attack in Pakistan’s Lahore City.
A terrorist detonated an explosive device right near the exit of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park, the exit, just a few feet away from the children’s swing set. People who witnessed the carnage afterwards reported seeing body parts spread across the parking lot of the park.
Reuters reported this:
“Pakistan, a nuclear-armed nation of 190 million people, is plagued by a Taliban insurgency, criminal gangs and sectarian violence. Punjab is its biggest and wealthiest province.”
The park was said to have been much busier than usual because of the Easter holiday, and that is believed to be the reason the park was chosen by terrorists for the attack. They were looking to kill innocents on this day of religious rebirth.
Rescue worker Jam Sajjad Hussain gave this report to the media:
“At least 15 people have been killed in a blast outside Gulshan-e-Iqbal Park.”
It is still unknown if the explosion was the result of a car bomb, a suicide bomber, or a remote device, but investigators aren’t ruling anything out just yet.
Haider Ashraf DIG Operations Lahore had this message:
“We cannot rule out that this was a suicide attack but things will be clear soon.”
