This is why the term “blacktracking” was invented.
While attacking President Obama for his Middle East policy (presumably because Obama appears to be trying to execute “Operation Dodge World War III”) Colonel Peters called the President “the amazing shrinking president, a tiny man in a well-tailored suit.”
While speaking to Sean Hannity, Colonel Peters discussed the “civilizational catastrophe of Middle Eastern Islam,” which probably isn’t something he needs to be discussing, given that it’s not a “civilizational catastrophe.” I see no Golden Horde. I see no Mongols. Don’t start calling it a “civilizational catastrophe” until we’re dealing with an active existential threat. Like global warming and income inequality, but I doubt the good Colonel would agree with that.
Peters added that, “without getting to Orwellian, we have seen Islamic civilization, which was teetering on a cliff, go over the cliff in the Middle East, and Obama is chasing unicorns.”
In addition to charging the president with the high crime of being reluctant to start a global war, Peters said that the United Arab Emirates sent their planes through Egypt to hit targets in Libya and didn’t say anything because they didn’t trust the United States. Showing that his grasp of morality is similar to his understanding of the complexities of Middle Eastern politics, he added that the Obama administration was routinely “backing the bad guys.”
This is pretty run-of-the-mill wingnut stuff, except for one thing: one year ago yesterday, he said that involvement in Syria could go from “stupid to deadly.” So it’s funny he should mention “Orwellian,” since we’ve always been at war with Eastasia, huh?
