That magical time of year is here again in which millions of America abandon any semblance of decency, all sense, and anything that vaguely resembles a moral code to engage in a celebration of a shameless self-aggrandization campaign on the part of corporate America.
Yes, Black Friday — or as we now know it, Thanksgiving. On a day that used to be meant for family, shoppers abandoned Thanksgiving tradition to engage in the shameless indulgence into commercialism that is the holiday shopping season.
We all know things can be very stressful when you really, really want that “Don’t Touch Me There, Elmo” Doll, and sometimes you just have this unrelenting urge to slam that guy who jumped ahead of the guy in front of the guy in front of you in line’s head into a shelf. Something terrible, yet magical, happens to Americans as they wander the aisles laden with the fruits of 9 year-old Indonesian children’s labor. Somehow, the indulgence into unabashed materialism causes normal, everyday people to “just lose it.”
