Bill O’Reilly said last Wednesday night on Fox News that people need to pray for affluent people because they’re in danger. O’Reilly goes on to make a case for the plight of rich people by using lottery winners as examples of how the rich are targeted by thieves, the greedy, and even murderers simply for being rich.
While the story may sound simple and appear to be shining a light on what it is like to be rich, the truth is that the very poorest among us are most often victims of violent crime than those of us who live in homes. Blacks are more likely to be victims of crime than whites, and with the exception of sexual assault, males are more likely to be the victim of violent crimes than females. Youths 20 – 24 are more often victims than adults.
Certainly none of this is surprising if we stop and think about it for a moment . Though believing that the rich are targets of the greedy, grasping underclasses makes for great TV drama and great ratings, it’s just another load of explosive mental diarrhea. Perhaps we should be more focused on the woes of the unfortunate victimized rich since Congress just raised the national payroll tax for the poorest 50% of the country.
Listen and be amazed as O’Reilly talks out of his sphincter here.
