During Tuesday night’s episode of The O’Reilly Factor, author and sports journalist Bernie Goldberg and host Bill O’Reilly took a break from their usual bigoted demagoguery and inadvertently performed a piercing critique of themselves and the entire Fox network.
Not only did Bill O’Reilly criticize those on the right that are jumping on President Obama for the Justice Department’s investigation into a national security leak by the Associated Press, he also agreed with Goldberg that even if Obama found the cure for cancer, it wouldn’t change the GOP’s negative opinion of him.
While commenting on the AP investigation, the two diverged and Goldberg said,
The point is that there are people on the left who will not acknowledge that Benghazi is a big story, and there are people on the right who, if Barack Obama came up with a cure for cancer, wouldn’t give him credit for it. And, by the way, I mean that literally.
One can’t help but wonder if Bill and Bernie realize that the very news organization they work for engages in the same type of blind-opposition to President Obama which they are criticizing.
Of course, the mainstream media is completely ignoring this manufactured Benghazi crisis, especially after the only “scoop” (shown in the video below) was debunked by CNN. Republicans are now grasping for straws because the email written by former deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications, Ben Rhodes, which supposedly changed the administration’s talking points to protect President Obama’s political interests turned out to be misleading.
Since they can’t find anything legitimate to attack, Republicans are forced to manufacture crises in order to maintain the right wing echo-chamber’s grasp on their gullible followers.
Judging from their ratings in the past five years, it doesn’t look like the far right is getting tired of hearing about “scandals” like 9/11 mosques, fake pimps, and non-existent coverups. They seem to be a lost cause–let’s just hope the last of the reasonable Republicans don’t follow them down the rabbit hole too.
