“Someone has to explain to me why Republicans believe that not working and getting free money – you, know, like the ‘takers’ – is the worst, most corrupting thing that could ever happen to a person, except if you’re rich.”
That’s how Bill Maher started out the “New Rules” segment on his HBO show Real Time this week.
The examples he includes were Kylie Jenner texting while driving after Bruce Jenner’s deadly accident and Paris Hilton’s brother Conrad Hughes Hilton III who went absolutely ballistic on a flight, threatening to kill flight attendants and calling other passengers “peasants.”
Maher then turned to the conservative talking point that’s widely used to undermine social welfare programs: “the dignity of work.”
“There’s only one thing conservatives believe in more than work, and that’s the God-given right of rich people to leave all their money to their kids, so they never have to work a day in their lives.”
