Last night on Real Time With Bill Maher, the host gave his liberal opinion and addressed the GOP’s attempts to “re-brand” itself. Maher brought up Karl Rove’s attempt to take out the Tea Party and “reign in the wild out-there batsh**t part of the Republican Party and get it back to the old regular batsh**t part of the Republican Party.”
Guests Donna Brazile and Jon Meacham both supported that liberal view and Brazile chimed in, “You cannot alienate people across this country and still hope to win elections.”
Maher’s view is that the GOP was always totally insane, and this isn’t some new thing with the re-branding of older ignorant racist GOP organizations into the Tea Party. We agree with Bill Maher.
“I think there’s a misconception here. I think people think the Republican Party has gone off the rails because of these social conservative issues and that may be true, but, you know, the Republican Party was always an uneasy marriage between the Jesus freaks and the plutocrats,” Maher said.
