Deputies in Dona Ana County say that Magdo Haro, age 40, was taken into custody after her 17-year-old daughter told investigators that Magdo repeatedly beat her with a shoe after coming out as being gay.
KOB 4 reports according to statements that the daughter made to the investigators, the girl was told that she was “not to wear boy clothes anymore, only girl clothes” and that she would have to start attending church with her grandmother.
The girl also said that she was forced to undress in front of her mother to “show her she was a woman, not a man.” The girl then told investigators that her mother demanded she perform sex acts on herself, so the teenager complied out of fear that she was going to be sexually assaulted by her mother.
Haro was arrested late Tuesday on the charges of criminal sexual penetration and child abuse. She was transported to Dona Ana County Detention Center, where she was released three hours later on a $25,000 secured bond.
A fine graduate from the Scott Lively School of Homophobic Bigotry, I see. Hopefully the girl finds some place to stay where she’ll be safe — away from the danger her mother presents.
