Radio hosts Steve and Leeana have apologized for inventing a story that has taken the internet by storm. They claim that they were attempting to spur on a healthy discussion with their “birthday invitation” tale involving two gay dads, but have only served to cause people to be speculative if a real story pops up. Below is a message from the radio hosts, who need to be disciplined for their irresponsibility.
Dear K-98.3 Listeners,
On Wednesday, we told you the story of Sophia’s birthday party, and one parent’s objection to the same-sex household of Sophia’s parents. We also posted the invitation on our Facebook page, and invited comments from our followers.
This story was, in fact, totally fictitious, and created by the two of us. This was done without the knowledge of K-98.3 management or ownership.
We were attempting to spur a healthy discourse on a highly passionate topic, but we made a mistake by misleading our listeners into thinking that this specific situation actually existed.
We are very sorry that we perpetuated this falsehood, even after it was clear that it had taken on a ‘life of its own.’ We deeply apologize for violating your trust, and we will work hard to regain that trust.[/box]
We hope that this shameful display does not unfairly cause the many real stories about such discrimination to be offhandedly assumed to be false. Shame on you, Steve and Leeana.
When one child invites another to a birthday party it usually has nothing to do with what her parents do in the bedroom, but one mother has chosen to change that! Apparently, she does not want her son to be exposed to a loving family who is simply attempting to celebrate an important occasion because both parents have a penis.
Sophia’s fathers were upset when they received the following response from a boy’s mother, written on the invitation:
Showing her intelligence by misspelling a word as simple as “believe,” Tommy’s mother Beth responded to an invite to the joyful event with blind, irrational hatred:
[box type=”shadow”]Tommy will NOT attend. I do not beleive [sic] in what you do and will not subject my innocent son to your “lifestyle.” I’m sorry Sophia has to grow up this way.[/box]
Perhaps it’s for the best. After all, a child’s birthday party is not the proper atmosphere in which a person should lay bigotry out for all to see (that’d be Westboro Baptist). What does she think they do, anyway? Go to work? Cook dinner? Watch TV? Abduct puppies and sacrifice them in the basement to the god of homosexual lust?
…Probably that last one.
The couple sent Tommy’s mother’s loving Christian missive to the local radio station, who posted it online. But there’s a twist!
This foul, bigoted idiot actually gave the radio station permission to post her phone number–with an invitation to all who have an issue with her attitude to give her a call and let her know how they feel!
Just to recap, AATTP:
- Beth doesn’t want her son exposed to his friends if the parents have matching parts.
- She openly expressed her detestable views on a child’s birthday invitation.
- SHE’S INVITING YOU TO CALL HER
- Give her a call, AATTP! (No threats please–we’re better than that)
