Let the war amongst the conservatives continue! Big donors are directly targeting Tea Party congressman Justin Amash (R-MI) in efforts to remove him from office in the next election. Several business leaders in Michigan have voiced their dismay towards the “non-traditional” extreme Republican representative for his affirmative stance on the government shutdown.
Brian Ellis, Republican and founder of an investment advisory firm, will go into the race against Amash in hopes to be elected on more “traditional” Republican values.
A letter printed on Ellis’ campaign stationary, obtained by The Hill reads:
[box type=”shadow”]“[Amash] and a small group of like-minded legislators rejected Speaker Boehner’s plea to pass legislation requiring Congress and the president be subject to Obamacare, and put on hold the special new tax on medical equipment. This irresponsible action hurt over 50 great West Michigan businesses and was part of the chaos that led the nation to the edge of default.”[/box]
The decisions against Amash among Michigan donors is the roust of a broader anti-tea party revolt set up by the GOP, which is primarily motivated over the shutdown. He pushed Speaker John Boehner to stand his ground on Obamacare which lead to the government shutdown. It appears that dissatisfaction between Republicans and Tea Party is growing rapidly throughout the GOP and more “moderate” conservatives are planning to speak out against the radical policies of the Tea Party movement that has been dubbed the “suicide caucus”.
