This weekend, 90-year-old Alice “Nonie” Dubes and 91-year-old Vivian Doyack opened up a new chapter in their life, when they were married in Davenport, Iowa, after spending 72 years together. It’s the end of civilization folks, just look at this:
Would you want any part of a God that hates these two women? Because I sure don’t, and I’m guessing that the Rev. Linda Hunsaker didn’t either, since she’s presiding over the wedding. She told the audience that “this is a celebration that should have happened a very long time ago.”
During the wedding, Vivian wore pink and Nonie wore taupe. The two held hands in their wheelchairs during the ceremony:
According to the Quad City times, Vivian and Nonie met in their hometown of Yale, Iowa, and moved to Davenport together in 1947. Vivian was an elementary school teacher, and Nonie did the payroll work; of their romance, the 90-year-old Nonie says that “We’ve had a good time.”
There are straight marriages that haven’t even lasted one-tenth their relationship has. And yet, somehow, these two are a “threat to traditional marriage.” And speaking of traditional marriage, I wonder which one paid the dowry, like the Bible mentions.
During their long relationships, the two have visited all 50 states, all the Canadian provinces, and England.
And not only does the world still turn after the wedding, it’s probably a better place for it.
