Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) appearing on Politics Nation last night with Al Sharpton, said that he voted for the bill that ended the shutdown because it was necessary to get the government back up and running but that it is a very bad bill.
He said that this whole debacle never had to happen in the first place pointing out that it was the result of the extreme right wing of the GOP refusing to accept the outcome of last years election where they lost the Presidential race and lost seats in both the House and the Senate and still demanded that they get their way.
“If there’s any silver lining in this whole thing, Al, it’s the degree to which the American people can now understand how dangerous this Tea Party, right-wing extremism is,” said Sanders.
Sanders said that not only was it dangerous to do what they had done but that it was a lost cause from the start doomed to the failure that they have now experienced.
Sanders spoke of the cuts which will continue to harm programs like Head Start and Meals on Wheels but that he had no choice but to accept it for now saying that he was gooing to fight to keep this from continuing the rest of the year. This is, after all, a sequestration budget.
He continues saying that this is only the tip of the iceberg and that the ultimate goal of those behind the TEA party faction, the Koch brothers and other very wealthy people is to turn the nation into an oligarchy in which only a handful of very wealthy people are in total control.
Sanders points out that the Kochs alone are sitting on over $70 billion and are willing to do whatever it takes to see their goals realized which would mean the end of Social Security, Welfare, Medicaid and Medicare and any other social welfare program which benefits the general population.
What it means in short is the end of the United States as we know it, unless we remove these seditious, treasonous tea partiers from the halls of power in 2014 and 2016 and beyond.
