Former Vice President and accused war criminal Dick Cheney has more than his share of critics. One of the most vocal, prolific, and harshest of these critics is Lawrence Wilkerson. One might think that Mr. Wilkerson is a member of Occupy Wall Street, MoveOn, or at least a prominent Democrat, but that is hardly the case. In fact, Wilkerson was a member of Cheney’s administration. He is a retired army colonel and was Secretary of State Colin Powell’s Chief of Staff during the run-up to the pre-emptive invasion of Iraq.
This is the same Colonel Wilkerson that had this to say about Cheney in May on The Ed Show:
I find it an enormous problem that they go after something like this, Benghazi, tragedy that it was, and they don’t go after something that is a colossal tragedy like the war crimes of Richard Bruce Cheney.”
It appears as if Colonel Wilkerson is now willing to go further in his condemnation of the torture enthusiast and war profiteer. He was interviewed yesterday at The Huffington Post in response to his recent and excellent blog post for them about Cheney’s lust for wealth and power. When asked if he thought that his old boss was immoral, Colonel Wilkerson had this to say:
I think amoral is a better and more precise, descriptive term. With Dick Cheney, it’s all about power. Yes, it’s about wealth coming from that power, too — he’s worth $70 million or $80 million now, so one can hardly say that’s not the case — but I think the power aspect of it … is more important to him than the amassing of wealth.”
