“It’s been here 6,000 years,” she said, “long before anybody had environmental laws and somehow it hasn’t been done away with.”
Allen is a Tea Party favorite who considers Arizona to be an independent nation unto itself and wants the government to stay out of our lives completely. That is unless it is forcing her personal views on others.
Earlier this week in another committee meeting Allen found a way to interject her religious views into discussion of a bill which would allow citizens with concealed carry permits to carry a weapon in public buildings.
Waxing sentimental of an earlier time when the U.S. was a moral nation which still clung to what she believes were its Christian roots, a time when mom stayed home and took care of the house in a dress and high heels while dad went to his job and came home to eat dinner still wearing his suit and tie. Where dad doled out philosophical advice to Wally and the Beav and everything was perfect, Allen explained why she supports the bill.
Citing what she sees as an erosion of religion in the country as the reason for what she considers a decadent and immoral society, implying that it is only through religion that human beings can become moral creatures, Allen said:
“Probably we should be debating a bill requiring every American to attend a church of their choice on Sunday to see if we can get back to having a moral rebirth. But since that would never be allowed, and we would not even be debating that, I am going to vote yes.”
How noble of her to admit that the Constitution forbids the law that she would like to enact! She does not even see that she has insulted everyone in the nation by suggesting that they are incapable of morality without religion. If a man needs religion to keep him from killing you and taking your possessions he is not a moral man, he is simply an immoral man restraining his natural proclivities through a fear of punishment after death.
