The Arizona legislature sent Governor Jan Brewer a bill that would allow business owners to turn away gay and lesbian customers, employers to deny fair pay to women, and pretty much whatever they want as long as it is done in the name of religious freedom — and an Arizona pizzeria sent legislators a very clear message in response.
This week, Arizona embarrassed the nation by passing Senate Bill 1062, which allows Arizona business owners to fully shield their corrupt and detestable actions behind the cloak of religion. On Thursday, Rocco’s Little Chicago in Tuscon let legislators know that they are not welcome!
Owner Anthony Rocco DiGrazia told HuffPo that “A customer posted the sign to my Facebook feed, so I printed it up and laminated it.” DiGrazia’s sign took the internet by storm, with DiGrazia receiving an outpouring of support. According to DiGrazia:
“The response has been overwhelming and almost all positive from across the globe. I just want to serve dinner and own and work in a place I’m proud of. Opening the door to government-sanctioned discrimination, regardless of why, is a huge step in the wrong direction.”
