The division between the rhetoric about Obamacare and the reality of Obamacare is a pretty big gulf, and while conservatives are no fan of the act, they nevertheless benefit from it in big ways.
Or, when they’re not, they’d be wishing that they were, if they didn’t believe the lies and propaganda about it.
Take Anti-Obamacare Arizona sheriff Richard Mack. Mack recently created a GoFundMe campaign, asking for $30,000 to help pay his medical expenses. That’s a minimum goal; his actual expenses could be more than that, and given my experiences with the American “Wealthcare” system, I’m pretty sure they will be (did you know that a 30 day prescription of Abilify costs over $1,000 without insurance? I didn’t either, until last month).
Mack is one of those dodgy, anti-government “Ima do it mah self” Conservatives. You know the type: they bought so hard into the Cult of Individuality that the mere mention of “sunk cost fallacy” makes them break out into hives. They haven’t culturally evolved since Gunsmoke convinced the Old West consisted of painted backdrops and black hats. Mack is a arch-supporter of Welfare Cowboy Cliven Bundy, and he gave an interview last year during Peak Bundy where he said some of Bundy’s supporters suggested using women and children as shields to win support from the people.
So he’s no friend of . . . well, any citizen of the United States, really.
But Mack is still an American Citizen himself, and as is frighteningly common for American citizens, he ended up incurring some rather hefty medical expenses. It’s rather sad, really, but it should surprise nobody that the Cult of Individuality is not flocking to his rescue.
But do you know who is?
And by the boatload:
Remember this the next time someone tries to tell you that liberals are stingy and don’t give help to other people.
