And now for something completely stupid. Michael Brown, head of the anti-equality “Coalition of Conscience,” wrote in a column on the noted repository of conspiratorial word salad that is WorldNetDaily that gay people will demand the right to sleep with family members next because a brother and sister bang on Game of Thrones.
Showing much interest in thought of gay people sliding down things, the head of ACOC wrote, “Gay activists constantly tell us that there’s no such thing as a slippery moral slope and that the acceptance of homosexuality will not lead to the acceptance of other sexual practices…The facts prove otherwise, and it is clear that we are rapidly sliding down the very slope whose existence they deny.”
Ooh, facts. We can’t wait.
“As I continually chart our society’s moral free fall, the term that best describes our current condition is sexual anarchy, where men can have sex with men just as well with women, where sex outside of wedlock is just as acceptable as sex within wedlock, where marriage doesn’t necessarily mean monogamy and where longstanding social taboos are cast off,” he continued.
The “evidence” presented, which amounts to an unimpressive collection of “I heard it from some guy” and desperate attempts to tie unrelated matters to the subject, supposedly demonstrates that the LGBT community is secretly attempting to legalize, among other things, good old fashioned Biblical family lovin’.
For instance, when Columbia University professor David Epstein was arrested for an Lot-style relationship with his (adult) daughter, his attorney said, “It’s OK for homosexuals to do whatever they want in their own home. How is this so different? We have to figure out why some behavior is tolerated and some is not.” You know, evidence.
More “evidence” includes an Australian judge’s statement that family boom-boom is like homosexuality, but both are widely accepted in today’s modern world. Sure, the statement received criticism from people of any political persuasion…but let’s call it evidence, anyway.
Brown included other examples, including a quote from a movie director and a Salon article. Perhaps the most damning of all, though, is the hot, steamy, brother-on-sister action shared between Cersei and Jaime Lannister. “The popular HBO series Game of Thrones also features an adult, brother-sister sexual relationship. And there is no slippery slope!” he wrote.
Brown concluded, “In their zeal to justify homosexual practice, these misguided teachers have opened the door wide to incest as well, removing the primary biblical texts that prohibit these sexual unions.”
Funny that he doesn’t complain about the senseless violence, torture, slavery, and rape on the show…
