Anthony Weiner (D- instagram) has seemingly never turned down a chance for publicity.
Weiner is now a private citizen living in New York City, having resigned from the Congress and lost his bid to be the Democratic nominee for Mayor of the Big Apple.
Anyway, while musing on his marriage in an interview with GQ, Weiner stated that that he can deflect the media coverage and gossip better than his wife can. Because he is “an empty soulless vessel.”
GQ writer Marchall Sella said that Weiner’s “soulless” remark was delivered “with an utter lack of humor.” Derive what you will from that.
Weiner confessed to sexting pictures of his genitalia to women he did not know while serving in Congress. After his antics were discovered, he initially lied, finally fessed up later and sparking off a firestorm in a scandal-hungry media.
After a sabbatical returning to his life as a husband and father, Weiner launched a PR campaign showing the new man, just in time for the NYC Mayoral race. Problem was, that even with spreads in the New York Times and People Magazine, Weiner was still sexting — especially to one woman who wanted her 15 minutes of fame as well.
Much of the talk in regards to Huma Abedin, Weiner’s wife, surrounds the fact that she is still with him. Apart from their child, there’s a lot to speculate about.
Let’s be clear. Weiner’s actions are creepy and seemingly compulsive. As social media grows, more folks will be caught with their pants down, so to speak.
Other political leaders have done far worse. Including a president who jeopardized his agenda in the Oval Office with a cigar and an intern — and let’s not forget the parade of “family values” folks who patronize prostitutes and open wide in airport bathrooms.
Here’s some advice, Mr. Weiner: go away for a while. Heal your family.
