Just when you thought the Tea Party couldn’t appear more completely clueless and out of touch with reality, Monday night’s edition of “Out Front with Erin Burnett” afforded us quite the view into just how completely ignorant the Tea Party is to reality. Everyone on planet earth knows the Tea Party candidates who ran in 2010 were foaming at the mouth to shut down the government, everyone except Tea Party Express chairwoman Amy Kramer.
Kramer was asked by Burnett on Monday’s show whether she thought shutting down the government was worth it, given the beatings in the polls the GOP has taken. That’s when Kramer got to reveal just how deep the river of denial really is.
“I don’t believe that the Republicans shut down the government. Obamacare is a job killing program that we can’t afford,” Kramer said. Unfortunately for Kramer, on the show’s panel of guests were both John Avlon, a conservative writer for The Daily Beast, and Democratic strategist Hillary Rosen. Both Rosen and Avlon wasted no time verbally pummeling Kramer’s complete deflection of the question.
Avlon responded to Kramer’s assertion that Republicans shut the government down with some actual truth. “To pretend it’s a win, or to pass the other buck and say this was Harry Reid’s plot all along, isn’t dealing with reality.”
Pretty much, Mr. Avlon. Pretty much.
