Have you gotten as tired as we have of hearing Republicans go on television, blasting the president and the Democrats for not “compromising” with them? It’s particularly insulting to our intelligence to be told by the party that has been trying to use methods outside of the Constitution’s rules about lawmaking to deep-six the Affordable Care Act, that they are the ones that have been willing to negotiate, isn’t it? Well never fear, Stephen Colbert is here.
On his show Monday night, Colbert chastised the GOP for their blatant hypocrisy over “compromise” by using clips of people like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz saying that since they’d decided to merely push for a delay in Obamacare and not an outright repeal, that made them more reasonable than the president. That’s when Colbert took a full comedic swipe at them saying, “Every one of those offers is a compromise from the Republicans’ original offer: having Mitt Romney be president.” Then, to put a button on it, “But — surprise, surprise — Obama wouldn’t negotiate on that, either.”
