Pssst. Governor Scott Walker — you may want to get your swim trunks on because it appears you are going to be in some hot water soon. Though to be fair, we don’t think a hot tub is involved.
According to a report in The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, a special prosecutor has been retained to investigate a wide range of issues in Governor Walker’s state of Wisconsin, including the recall election that captured the attention of not just of those in his state, but all across the nation.
The attempted recall of Scott Walker was probably the second biggest election story last year, next to the presidential election. It was supposedly proof that the hard-right ideologue Walker was actually popular in the state and that his aggressive anti-labor, anti-public worker policies were working just fine.
Time to hold those horses. According to the Sentinel’s report, the special prosecutor has been assigned to investigate leads that arose out of a separate investigations that wound up getting six former Walker aides convicted of several criminal charges. The newspaper report further states that what started as an investigation in one county has now spread to five counties and the issues include recall races for state legislator seats as well as the one that must have Walker and his people truly mortified — the recall election he ran against Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.
This is a developing story, and we will be sure to provide any and all updates as they become publicly available.
