When you put the words “Family Research Council” together, you get a very wholesome image, don’t you? That we’re assuming was the point of Tony Perkins’ group naming themselves as they did — to give the impression that they’re a group of nice, down-home conservative folks who just want to maintain that apple-pie in the sky American Dream for everyone. Of course, they might have to change their name if Perkins is going to keep saying stupid things on his radio show.
While interviewing Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), Perkins and the congressman discussed Obamacare. Isn’t it interesting how many conservative Christian organizations are against helping the poor and sick get medical care? Put Tony Perkins in that group, but you can add one more strange twist of human indecency. Not only does Perkins want to defund Obamacare, he went the extra craven step of suggesting that Obamacare be defunded to pay for the military campaign in Syria. Because you know, nothing says “agape love” like “take money away from poor sick people so you can bomb the hell out of a country full of poor people.” Perkins said on his show:
If the President wants to expend resources in going into Syria, maybe you should have to choose between funding Obamacare and funding a war in Syria, can’t do both. Yes, time to choose Mr. President. Either you stick to your signature healthcare plan or you go blow stuff up.
Conservative Logic 101. Will wonders never cease?
But don’t take my word for it. Listen for yourself:
