Children are among the most inquisitive creatures on the planet. Sometimes, an inappropriate question from a child offers the adults in their lives teaching opportunities. Some adults however are too thin skinned and too ignorant to understand this as four year-old Justin Otero and his mother learned recently at the Donut Inn in Monroe, Connecticut, where they had been daily customers.
Justin’s mother Rebecca Denham admits that, like most children his age, he does not have a filter. If a question occurs to him, he asks it and being a child he often does not understand that some questions are better left unasked — such as when he asked a woman at the shop if she had “a baby in her belly.”
While Rebecca was mortified and apologetic to the woman, the target of the boy’s question laughed it off saying that she gets the question all the time from the children in nursery school.
The next time Rebecca and Justin walked into the shop they were greeted by a screaming manager who pointed at the 4 year-old shouting “he’s not allowed in here, he’s rude.”
Being the better person, Rebecca is taking the uncalled for rudeness of the store’s manager in stride, noting that it was a teaching experience for Justin and that she will simply take her business elsewhere in the future.
A local TV station contacted the store’s owner and manager about the incident but both declined to comment.
